On Wednesday 2nd March, the Faculty of Philology, Translation and Communication will host a conference on the coincidence and difference points between Pier Paolo Pasolini and Federico García Lorca. The session, given by Professor Juan Carlos de Miguel, will begin at 7 p.m. in the assembly hall.

“Pasolini/Lorca. Two stars in the night” is the title of the conference, organised by the Department of French and Italian Philology. Entrance is free until seating capacity is reached. The presentation will be given by Professor Giulia Colaizzi, from the Department of Language Theory.

On 5th March 1922, Pier Paolo Pasolini was born in Bologna (Italy), an outstanding artist and intellectua, talented in strong originality. His tireless activity as a poet, prose writer, playwright, filmmaker and polemicist leaves a vast and living legacy, despite the fact that his life was violently truncated at the age of 53.

As a tribute, on the centenary, Professor Juan Carlos de Miguel will compare his figure with that of another great artist of the 20th century, the Spaniard Federico García Lorca, who also suffered a violent death at the age of 38. Some points of coincidence (and difference) in their biographical and artistic careers will be selected, connecting a Spanish-Italian historical fabric.
