Daniel Tordera wins the award Ciutat de Algemesí for young researchers
Daniel Tordera, professor of the Department of Physical Chemistry of the University of Valencia, won the first prize of the XVIII Award Technical-scientific of Algemesí for its work titled “Large-area biometric optical scanner based on organic materials”. The award of 5.000 euros, has as a goal to promote the researching spirit in young scientists. The award ceremony will take place this Friday (March 24th) at 18:30 in the plenary room of the Algemesí City Hall.

The awarded work develops a large-area optical scanner easily integrable in commercial products, using for this, organic materials. The optical scanner shows an excellent performance and an adequate resolution for practical applications in the field of biometrics of fingerprint detection as well as vein patterns. The whole process is compatible with the current industrial fabrication methods. This way, the scanners can be built in an economical way in very large sizes, and it’s ultrathin width allows a perfect integration in independent devices, cell phones, access security and biomedical devices.
Since late 2020, Daniel Tordera is a helping doctor professor in the Department of Physical Chemistry and researcher in the Institute of Molecular Science in the University of Valencia where he combines teaching tasks in the faculties of Chemistry and Pharmacy with his job in photodetectors and light emitting devices based in perovskites and organic materials.
