Debate for the student elections at the Universitat de València

University Debate.

The Matilde Salvador Room of the La Nau building hosted on Monday 11th November at 6:30 p.m., the debate for the elections of students of the Universitat de València. For the first time in the history of an electoral debate, it has been live via streamed through the website uv.es.

The candidates of the main groups representing students at the Universitat have debated the main issues affecting students, such as the present and future of the student movement, the complaints of the youth, the needs of students, the climate emergency or the sexism in our society.

The debate included the participation of Gerard Blasco, for the Bloc d’Estudiants Agermanats (BEA); Jordi Ortiz, for the Associació d’Estudiants SAÓ; Minerva Jiménez for A Contracorrent; and Carlos Picazo for the Unió d’Estudiants Valencians. The Student officer of the Principal’s Office, Meme Elizalde, moderated the debate and the video and audio signal was produced by the University of Valencia’s Audiovisual Workshop (TAU).  Ana Domínguez of the Consell de Joventut of Valencia also spoke, encouraging students to vote in the next elections.

The debate has been organised by the Consell de Joventut (Youth Council) of Valencia and the Delegate for Students of the Universitat and has been authorised by the UV Electoral Commission.

Next November 21st the elections of student representatives will be held in the Senate and Centre Boards of the Universitat. Between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m., students are invited to exercise their right to vote at the polling stations set up in the different faculties and centres. If the student cannot vote in person, early-voting procedure can be done until November 20th.
