Dependency, adapted cities, retirement: the Càtedra Prospect deals with the retirement

The last facts of CSIC (Spanish National Research Council) indicate that in 2050 the sixty-five-year old people will represent more than 30% of the Spanish population. The eighty-year old people will be more than four millions. Dependency, long term care, adapted cities, retirement. There are multiple perspectives from where it can be analysed the challenges and suggestions around the ageing of the population.

There are multiple perspectives from where it can be analysed the challenges and suggestions around the ageing of the population.

In that line, Càtedra Prospect 2030, managed by Joan Romero, full university Professor of Human Geography of the Universitat de València, presents a new seminar.  Under the title of “Retos y Propuestas ante los envejecimientos de la población” (Challenges and Suggestions according to the ageing of the population), Faculty of Geography and History of the Universitat de València on Thursday and Friday, October 24th and 25th, two days for studying and analysing looking at older people. The Seminar will be coordinated by the Lecturer in Social Psychology of the Universitat de València and President of the Valencia Society of Geriatrics and Gerontology: Sacramento Pinazo-Hernandis.

The reflection on ageing replies to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development of the UN,  which is tackled from the transversality of themes such as the promotion of well-being at all ages, the sustainable development and the creation of effective, responsible and inclusive institutions at all levels.  The Interuniversity Institute for Local Development (IIDL), Càtedra Prospect2030 and the Department of Geography of the Universitat de València, in collaboration with ADEIT Foundation, participate in the organisation of the Seminar.

Càtedra Prospect 2030, supported by the President of the Valencian GovernmentThe creation of Càtedra ProspectCV 2030, which was supported by Valencian Government Presidency and attached to IIDL of Universitat de València,  was made with the purpose of recovering the importance of strategic thinking, especially at the regional and local levels, and to have the greatest possible degree of contrasted knowledge in order to promote public policies and agree on desirable circumstances in the medium term.
