After the inauguration of the event, undertaken by Alba Rodríguez, culture’s godmother, and Mila Villanueva, a main member of the culture area of the Centro Galego de València, the president of the Foundation Rosalía de Castro, Anxo Angueira, will talk about ‘Rosalía and Pardo Bazán during el Rexurdimento’. After this speech, there will be a music recital carried out by the songwriters, Emilio Rúa and Rosa Cedrón.  José Ramón Cerdeira, president of the Centro Galego of València will close the programme. He will enjoy the musical accompaniment of the pipe band of the centre, which, to crown it all, will play a set of musical works of the traditionally Galician repertoire. When the ceremony ends, a ‘wine of honour’ will be served to the attendants.

With this event, the proposal of the Centro Galego of València aims to strengthen the two objectives that they established in 2018, when they first commemorated the Day of Rosalía de Castro. On the one hand, paying tribute to the distinguished author, an outstanding figure of Galician Literature; and, on the other hand, institutionalising this yearly event in order to vindicate not only the figure of Rosalía, but also the other Galician women distinguished in the arts, science, education and critical thinking in each edition. Through this initiative, they are showing a clear nod to feminism.  

The ceremony counts with the collaboration of the cultural centre La Nau of the Universitat de València and of the Galician General Migration Office of the Regional Government of Galicia. There is free entry, but the seating is limited, so it is required a previous inscription (in order to have room) by sending a mail to the Centro Galego of València.
