The student association Els Quatre Gats de Medicina inaugurates on Thursday the second edition of the photographic exhibition Bodypaint Anatomic 2.0. It mixes art and science through different anatomic structures (bones, muscles and organs) captured on the human body, which becomes the canvas and a nexus between the disciplines. The exhibition opens at 6 p.m. in the Main Hall of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry of the Universitat de València.

Bodypaint Anatomic 2.0 is formed by five pieces of art that have been created during this course and will be added to the sample exhibited in the previous edition: Bodypaint Anatomic. There are five new pieces of work that explore different morphological structures of big complexity and detail. Among them, Neoplasia colorrectal con metástasis hepática or Grandes vasos are pieces that bring closer the anatomic concept not only from a physiological point of view, but also from a pathological one.

Among the considered diseases, we can highlight denouncing certain unhealthy behaviours in our society. An example is Infarto de miocardio, where you can observe the consequences of an unhealthy lifestyle. Els Quatre Gats de Medicina states that Bodypaint Anatomic 2.0 is the innovative representation of an integrative evolution between art and medicine. It has been undertaken with innovative methods and has transformed the concept of learning the human anatomy thanks to the didactic power of art.

Students from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) have participated in the project. They have been advised by the cultural association Els Quatre Gats de Medicina, which is formed by students of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry of the Universitat de València (UV) and has more than 25 years of experience. The work of both teams has been coordinated by the artistic and photographic director David Gimeno, a student of photography of the Escuela de Arte Superior y Diseño (EASD) of Valencia. The sample can be visited in the faculty until April 30th.

Each piece has a didactic intention that accomplishes the objectives of the project and the cultural collective Els Quatre Gats de Medicina. In addition, this year there is newness in the exhibition: there will be two models in vivo that will show off live the paintings carried out by the artists of Bodypaint Anatomic during the inauguration. UV students have also voluntarily offered their bodies to show the beauty of human anatomy in a different and striking way.

The Department of Anatomy of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry of the UV and its Cultural Committee have supported the project for a second year. Last year, it was also exhibited in the Library of the Campus of the University Rovira i Virgili (URV).
