The Professor of Inorganic Chemistry of the Universitat de València Eugenio Coronado has been awarded with the Spanish Royal Physics Society (RSEF) Medal, granted by the aforementioned entity and the BBVA Foundation, for his worldwide pioneering work in magnetism and molecular spintronics.

His international leadership in different institutions, the recognition and high scientific impact of his work and the multidisciplinary nature of his research have made Coronado worthy of the highest award given by the Royal Spanish Society of Physics, the RSEF Medal, which he has just received from the hand of the president of the institution. José Adolfo de Azcárraga.

Eugenio Coronado is Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the Universitat de València and Head of the Institute for Molecular Science (ICMol), a centre recognised as the María de Maeztu Unit of Excellence, in the academic institution's Science Park, from where he carries out most of his research work on the border between physics, chemistry and materials science.

In addition to being the holder of two Advanced Grant awards which are the best endowed from the European Research Council (ERC), he has received numerous national research awards, such as the King Jaime I Prize, the National Prize for Chemical Research, the King Juan Carlos I National Prize and the Medal of the Royal Spanish Society of Chemistry (RSEQ), among others. It should be noted that he is the first scientist to win both the RSEQ Medal in 2009 and the RSEF Medal, which was given to him on 11th December at the BBVA Foundation headquarters in Madrid.

Coronado is also director of the European Institute of Molecular Magnetism.
