His appointment has been supported by Instituto Superior Técnico (IST-Higher Technical Institute) of Lisbon (Portugal).

Eugenio Coronado is one of the most influential Spanish Chemist of the international scientific scene, with about 600 publications and he is in the 83th position in the H-index. His career has always been characterized by a high interdisciplinary nature and chemist, physic and material sciences impact. Coronado has been at the vanguard of Magnetochemistry during the last 25 years, with fundamental contributions in the chemical design, physic characterization and theorical modelling of molecular nanomagnets and multifunctional material. He manages two AdG ERC (Advanced Grants of the European Research Council) about Molecular Spintronic and 2D materials. His relevance goes further than Molecular Magnetism, standing out in the field of Polyoxometalate Chemistry, Molecular conductors and superconductors, Molecular electronics and recently, Molecular Spintronics, Quantum computing (Magnetic molecules like Qubits) and 2D materials.

Coronado does the most part of his job in the Institute of Molecular Science of the Universitat de València, in the Science Park, which is run by him since 2000. As well as having prestigious awards such as Jaime I King Award, the National Chemistry Award, the National Award Juan Carlos I, and recently, the Medal of the Spanish Royal Physics Society (RSEF) in 2019.
