“A vivir que son cien años”, an exhibition from the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), comes to the Faculty of Psychology and Speech Therapy to offer a scientific vision of healthy ageing.

“A vivir que son cien años” displays a didactic approach to ageing, both individual and collective, and the best possible conditions that must be met for longevity to be seen from the viewpoint of optimism and health. The exhibition is made up of audiovisual panels and interactive elements that make the visit pleasant and informative.

The importance of this exhibition lies in Spain’s position as the country with the fourth-highest life expectancy in the world, according to the World Health Organisation. In the last twenty years we have gone from having a life expectancy of 79 to 83 years, and in the last sixty years we have increased it by thirteen years. We are facing gradual growth and the undeniable fact that we are all getting older, so taking care of ourselves, as well as our loved ones, is the only way to live a prosperous life.

The principal of the Universitat de València, Maria Vicenta Mestre, has attended the exhibition together with the general manager of the Universitat de València, Juan Vicente Climent, as well as the dean of the Facultat, Antoni Ferrer, and representatives of other university groups of Blasco Ibáñez to reaffirm the commitment of the institution with the scientific vision of healthy ageing, the maintenance of the welfare state, the Spanish public pension system and the medical and technological advances which facilitate that our elders live this stage of life to its fullest.
