The inauguration takes place today 28 of March at 12 a.m. The exhibition consists in 32 boards that show the increasing social, economic and cultural importance of jogging in the Valencian Community. The contributions of 400 researchers of the Universitat de València and other specialists in the subject confirm it.

“The Valencian territory has the highest percentage of joggers in Spain. We can find tracks of this practice since the times of Jaime I” indicates Víctor Agulló, the curator of the exhibition.  Territori valencià, territori runner conducts a thorough and scientific radiography of the current situation of jogging, its capacities and challenges for the future.

In the last years, the touristic potential of jogging in Valencia has become evident. This potential increases every year and has led to some people calling Valencia the city of jogging. Jogging is not an activity restricted to the city of Valencia. There are also jogging activities, night races, solidarity runs, circuits, trails, orienteering races... All modalities of popular athletics are widespread within the whole Valencian Community. The Universitat de València presents the exhibition Territori valencià, territori runner. It does it through the Office of the Vice-Principal for Territorial Projection and Participation, thanks to the sponsorship of Caixa Popular and the collaboration of the General Bureau for Sports of the Valencian Government.

The Vice-Principal for Territorial Projection and Participation of the Universitat de València, Jorge Hermosilla; the Director of the City of Arts and Sciences, Enrique Vidal; the General Assistant Manager for Sport of the Valencian Government, Joan Carles Cuenca; the Director for Territorial Touristic Strategy of the Valencian Bureau of Tourism, Josep Gisbert; the Director of Negocio-Marketing de Caixa Popular, Josep Maria Company; and the curator of the exhibition, the UV professor Víctor Agulló (Department of Sociology and Social Anthropology) will attend the inauguration.

“The Universitat de València ratifies its commitment with the Valencian society once again as it participates in an academic project that combines research, education, training and dissemination of knowledge in the Valencian territory” highlighted the Vice-Principal for Territorial Projection and Participation, Jorge Hermosilla. The Vice-Principal has praised the participation of researchers of the Universitat de València, “without their collaboration and good will, it would not be possible to offer this exhibition to the Valencian society”.

48 authors have participated in the exhibition. 9 of them are sport historians, trainers or journalists. They are all specialists in jogging. Most of them are professors and researchers at the Universitat de València. They come from several researching institutes and the departments of Sociology and Social Anthropology; History of Science and Documentation; Medicine; Physiology; Psychobiology; Physiotherapy; Social Psychology; Physical and Sports Education; Stomatology; Musical, plastic and corporal expression didactics; Language Theory and Communication Sciences; Marketing and Market Research; Economic Analysis; and Administrative and Procedure Law.

This successful participation gives the exhibition a multidisciplinary and multifaceted nature. This permits that jogging is studied from a wide range of perspectives such as Health, Physiology, quality of life, nutrition, prevention of injuries, Psychology, Biomechanics, Physical training, doping, sponsorships, modalities (trail, solidarity races...) didactics, sociological profile, media, footwear, social inclusion, mobile applications or its impact in the economy, tourism and sport.

As in any other exhibitions organised by the Office of the Vice-Principal for Territorial Projection and Participation, Territori valencià, territori runner is an itinerant exhibition that will be publicly displayed during several months in different Valencian towns.
