The Faculty of Economics celebrates today ‘La nit dels 50’ on the occasion of its 50th anniversary

Today, Thursday 7 July at 7.30pm, the Faculty of Economics prepares itself for ‘La nit dels 50’ celebration. In this event, fifty students will be recognised for their contribution to improving the present society, partly due to the personal and professional development they obtained during their studies at the Faculty of Economics.

The purpose of the event is for students to feel themselves part of the faculty, which has always been their home, therefore reencountering again with their Faculty to strengthen their pride and belonging sense.

The event will be presented by two distinguished graduates. On the one hand, Aurelio Martínez Estévez, professor of the Faculty of Economics and head of the Autoridad Portuaria, who has combined university teaching with several positions in different public and private companies. On the other hand, Paz Sánchez Pelegrí, Nestlé Group Manager, will offer the vision of the alumnus, who has focused her career exclusively on professional practice, showing how the quality of her education has complemented her personal effort in setting up a successful professional career.

Once the round of interventions comes to an end, students will receive a personal acknowledgment on the part of the members of the presidential table formed by the Principal of the Universitat de València, Esteban Morcillo; the Dean of the Faculty of Economics, José Manuel Pastor; as well as the already mentioned Aurelio Martínez and Paz Sánchez.

The event is organised within the activities of the 50th anniversary of the Faculty of Economics, founded in 1966. With respect to the faculty, the current Faculty of Economics is fruit of the union between the Faculty of Economic and Business Sciences and University School of Business Studies of the UV in the year 2000.

The choice of the fifty graduates has been a complicated task given the huge volume of professionals the Faculty has contributed to form, but it certainly represents in such an outstanding way the reputation that the Centre has acquired during its 50 years of life.

Among the alumni who have confirmed their assistance, a large representation of the political arena is to be found: Joan Lerma, Jordi Sevilla or Juan Carlos Moragues; as well as several leading economic-business figures, such as the president of BP Spain, Luis Alberto Aires, and Toyota, Agustín Martín.

‘La nit dels 50’ has the collaboration of Colegio Oficial de Economistas de Valencia (COEV) and Vinos de la Viña.
