2nd Sessions on Social Responsibility in Financial Entities

The Assembly Hall of the Faculty of Economics hosts on Wednesday 16 November the 2nd Sessions on Social Responsibility in Financial Entities. In the sessions it will be analysed the current behaviour of banking institutions and which social responsibility they should have.

In the sessions, organised by the University Research Institute in Social Economy, Cooperativism and Entrepreneurship, they will be analysed different aspects of social responsibility in financial entities, as well as the consequences derived from bad banking practices. It is a topical issue due to the consequences of the financial crisis which started in 2007, the fraud of the preference shares and banking abuses such as the floor clauses, evictions and collections of fees.

The programme will have two main conferences and one round table. The first conference of the day will be given by Pau Moserrat, managing editor of iahorro.com and author of the book “La banca culpable” (Guilty banking). La second conference will be given by Jordi Griera, Chair Person of the INEVAL Foundation. Finally, the round table will be on “How to measure social responsibility of banking entities” and they will participate: Leonardo Gustson, coordinator of Bcorp in Spain; Patricia Suárez, head of the Finsalut Foundation and President of ASUFIN; Alfons Ribarrocha, Asociación Valenciana de la Economía del Bien Común (Valencian Association of Economy for the Common Good); and José María Company, director of the business and marketing area of Caja Popular.

The session will be opened at 9:30 by: Josep Ochoa, general director of Social Responsibility and Promotion of Self-governance; Francisco Álvarez, general director of Economics, Entrepreneurship and Cooperativism; and José Manuel Pastor, dean of the Faculty of Economics of the UV.

The session will finish with the presentation of the book “La desfeta del sistema financer valencià” (The failure of the Valencian financial system) of the full university professor of Business Administration, Joan Ramon Sanchis. The conference will be given by the author, the vice-dean of the Faculty of Economics, Rosa Yagüey, and the publisher of the book, Manuel Gil.
