La Faculty of Geography and History releases on Thursday (1st of March) the documentary “Enrique Rambal. Noms propis’. It will take place at 12 a.m. at the assembly hall of the faculty. The documentary lasts 52 minutes. It narrates Enrique Rambal’s life and work. He was a Valencian theatre actor, director, producer and entrepreneur.

Apart from the most notable facts of his figure, the documentary unveils unknown aspects of the Valencian theatre of the first half of the 20th century. Enrique Rambal was an innovator in the theatre scene. His fascinating tricks and dramatic effects made him experiment with different film techniques. Over the course of his career he put on a large melodramatic repertoire. Thanks to that repertoire, he acquired the name of “the King of the Scene”.

Rambal had a lot of success in Spain and America.  He reinvented himself as if he was one of his characters. Mystery surrounded him until he died in Valencia in 1956.

The documentary has a dramatization of the character, interpreted by Diego Braguinsky, and counts with the intervention of renowned researchers such as Anaclet Pons, Jaume Lloret y Rodolf Sirera and Rambal’s biographer, Francisca Ferrer. Current scene figures such as Emilio Gutiérrez Caba and José Sacristán give their opinion on Rambal’s personality.

This project has been co-produced by TV Channel À Punt and Valencian producer Docuproducciones.
