The former Head of the UNESCO, Federico Mayor Zaragoza, talks at the Universitat about the Sustainable Development

The former Head of the UNESCO will talk at the Universitat de València on Tuesday 31 January. The headline of the intervention, aimed to students and professors, is: “From Millennium goals to Sustainable Development goals (ODS 2030)”. The projection will start at 17:00 in the Assembly Hall of the Old Building of the Teacher Training School(C / alcalde Reig, 8).

Then, from 18:00 to 19:30, there will be some seminars about Sustainability and Secondary Education, aimed to students of the Master's Degree in Secondary Education Teaching. The sessions are framed on the first about sustainability and education. The initiative is organised by the Project of Sustainability Innovation and the Master's Degree in Secondary Education Teaching.

Federico Mayor Zaragoza (Barcelona, 1934) was general head of the UNESCO between 1987 and 1999. Honorary Member of Club of Rom, he is currently co-president for the Alliance of Civilizations. He obtained a Ph.D. in pharmacy and was Chair of Biochemistry at the University of Granada; he was also , Minister of Education and Science (1981–1982) and CDS deputy in the European Parliament (1987). As Head of the UNESCO, his management was focussed on powering projects of promoting peace, human rights and intercultural dialog. In 1999, the Culture of Peace Programme was created which has continued developing the objectives proposed at the UNESCO.
