Full-Time University Professor Ana Camarasa, silver medal winner of Sagunto
Universitat de València Full-Time University Professor in Physical Geography Ana Camarasa received the Sagunto silver medal for her contribution to society and specifically to the name of her municipality. The event took place on 9 October.

Camarasa Belmonte received the city distinction along with Marcelo Cuadros, Antonio Cosín and Victoria Civera.
Ana Camarasa Belmonte was born in Puerto de Sagunto and is a Universitat de València Full-Time University Professor in Physical Geography, where she also obtained her PhD in 1992 with her doctoral thesis ‘Génesis de crecidas en pequeñas cuencas semiáridas, Barranc de Carraixet y Rambla de Poyo’ (‘Genesis of growth in small semi-dry basins, Barranc de Carraixet and Rambla de Poyo’). Former professor in University of Alcalá and UV, served as secretary and vice-dean in the UAH, and UV Coordinator of the Degree in Geography and Environment. She leads the Mediterranean Hydrology Group studying growth in ephemeral Mediterranean river systems. She has also lead different R+D projects on flood risk, heavy rain episodes and danger and vulnerability cartography elaboration. Since 2017, she serves as coordinator for a research agreement with the Valencian Agency of Security and Response for Emergency. She is also working in the update of the National Catalogue of Historical floods and has participated in the development of the Integrated Map of Flood Inundation of the Valencian Community (MIPICOVA), combining cartographies from PATRICOVA and the National System of Cartography in Flood Risk Zones. Her work combines research, knowledge transfer and commitment with territory risk management. She collaborates with the research on the October 2024 DANA that greatly damaged València and its territories
