The Galician Centre of Valencia pays tribute to Rosalía de Castro in La Nau

On Wednesday 23 of February, the Galician Centre of Valencia pays tribute to Rosalía de Castro in the Cultural Centre La Nau of the Universitat de València to celebrate the 181º anniversary of her death. She is a key figure among Galician letters. The event will take place in the Main Hall at 18:30h.

The session will start with a presentation of the responsible of the Centro Galego of Valencia as well as university, local and autonomous competent authorities. Then, the pipe band “Celturia” of the Centro Galego in Valencia will play a welcoming fanfare.

Writer Mila Villanueva will address “Follas Novas: a literatura gallega del siglo XIX y la cultura del Rexurdimento” at 19 p.m. Afterwards, lecturer Gloria de Frutos will continue with her presentation “Rosalía Siempre”. A poetical recital in charge of Galician singer-songwriter Emilio Rúa will take place at 20 p.m. It will be recited by several members of the Cultural association Concilyarte. The ceremony of Rosalía de Castro’s day will conclude with an honorary reception.

This activity counts with the collaboration of the Office of the Vice-Principal for Culture and Equality of the Universitat de València, the Cultural Association Concilyarte, the Secretaría Xeral de Emigración of Xunta de Galicia and the Valencian Government.
