Members of the university community gathered today, on Wednesday, at the doors of the educational centres to protest against the latest female murder that took place in Moraira. The Office of the Vice-Principal for Culture, Equality and Communication of the Universitat de València invited everyone to join the gathering at 12:00 and hold three minutes of silence announced by the Valencian Government (Generalitat).

According to the office of the vice-principal, the event aimed to “reflect on this injustice against women that is socially constructed; for this reason, we should all act as comrades in arms.” This way, the university community expressed their condolences to the family of Alina (murdered in Moraira this week) and to every other victim of such acts of violence.

Again, Universitat de València has strongly condemned violence against women and called for the society to unite and for the public authorities to work effectively to combat the issue. Such cases of female murder have profound social implications and should compel us as a part of the society.
