The catalogue for the exhibition 'El Saler per al poble, ara' by Dídac Ballester, produced on the occasion of an exhibition of the same name at the La Nau Cultural Centre, has been awarded the highest prize: the Gold in Graphic Design from the Association of Designers of the Region of Valencia (ADCV). The awards were announced last week at the El Musical Theatre (TEM) in València. The winning projects of the ADCV 2019 Awards promote Valencian design in different specialities: graphics, products, spaces and new media, to highlight its important role as an innovative engine for business, social and cultural development, highlighting the best pieces of Valencian design.

"El Saler per al poble" is the catalogue of the exhibition "El Saler per al poble, ara! El poder de la ciudadanía en la transformación responsable del paisaje y del territorio", a selection of photographs exhibited at the Centre Cultural La Nau from May to October 2017. The commemorative and vindicative exhibition on the Devesa del Saler was produced by the Office of the Vice-Principal of Culture and Equality, with the collaboration of the City Council of València, Caixa Popular, the Territorial College of Architects of València and the General Foundation of the Universitat.

"As the title of the exhibition indicates, through it we intend to recall one of the first citizens' movements in Spain, possibly the first ecologist, who managed to defend the natural heritage and who is still being studied today and continues to be the subject of research and thesis at European and American universities", commented one of the curators, the architect Carles Dolç of a collective exhibition, which describes the history of the movement that saved La Devesa del Saler.

The book of the exhibition is not a catalogue in use, but rather a sum of articles by different authors that update a large part of the registers -scientific, cultural and social- possible in a metropolitan landscape as singular as it is unique. The publication includes fold-out images, a selection of the photographs on display and even blank pages for the reader to write his or her own ending to the Saler story, all in a monochrome green layout.

The ADCV awarded a total of 27 Gold Awards and 24 Silver Awards to different design projects. The selection and subsequent delivery of the awards was carried out by an independent jury of the association, composed of designers Ana Mir, Pati Nuñez, David Ramos de Ramos & Bassols, Astrid Stavro and Miguel Zorraquino.
