The Governing Council has confirmed the principal’s decision of starting the second semester with minimum classroom teaching. This application of the agreement between the Valencian Public University System and the Generalitat contributes to the goals of the Valencian government of reducing mobility of individuals as a measure to control the spread of COVID-19 in our region.

The second semester of the 2020-2021 academic year started this Monday in a policy context of state of alert and implementation of measures taken by the state and Generalitat governments in order to contain the spread of COVID-19.

Due to the evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Valencian Community, the autonomous government has taken a series of measures which restrict mobility and activities to limit the flow of people, as well as social and family contact.

On the 26th of January the Valencian University System and the Generalitat reached an agreement to reduce on-campus teaching during February in order to comply with these measures. Nonetheless, classrooms are still proven to be safe sanitary spaces, according to analyses carried out by the University of Valencia and data provided by health authorities.

Information about this agreement is available at UVnoticias: https://links.uv.es/TEf09OV

The University of Valencia was already working with the campuses, in the framework of co-governance implemented by the principal’s office during the pandemic, on the development of an adjustment scenario in the current hybrid and flexible model.

Information about the adaptation process followed is available at UVnoticias: https://links.uv.es/iiZ6dfQ

This adaptation process took place in implementing the article 94.2 of the Statutes of the University of Valencia , under which the principal, in case of emergency and on a provisional basis, can make the arrangements necessary to comply with the aims of the institution. Simultaneously, she can call the proper authority and include the issue in the agenda.

In the sixth provision of the resolution of the 28th of January, the principal convened the Governing Council to confirm these adjustments to the teaching adaptation that have been provisionally implemented to date.

The Governing Council, which met on Tuesday February 2nd, has confirmed the resolution.

The full resolution can be found at the following link: http://links.uv.es/rHKDW04

The percentage of remote learning during February will reach figures over 90%.

The model of minimum on-campus teaching will be in force during February and will be revised depending on the epidemiological evolution in the Valencian Community and on the measures implemented by the authorities, in collaboration with all the universities that make up the Valencian Public University System and the proper authorities of the Generalitat in public health and universities.
