The ICMol introduces molecular science advances to students at its Summer School
The Institute of Molecular Science (ICMol) of the Universitat de València held from 15 to 17 July the sixth edition of its Summer School, an initiative aimed at students interested in learning first-hand molecular and material science research.

During three days, the participants attended talks given by the research staff of the ICMol, learnt about the main areas of the institute and visited their facilities. The programme combined introductory sessions with practical experiences, offering a direct vision of the day-to-day of scientific research.
The talks touched subjects such as molecular spin, with Alicia Forment; 2D materials, with Samuel Mañas y Marta Galbiati; and the MOFs, with Guillermo Mínguez; sustainability, with Mónica Giménez y Ximo Soriano; and electronics and energy, with Juan Aragó i Cristina Roldán were also analised.
The visits to the laboratories provided an opportunity to get familiarised with specialised equipment, such as computer labs, microscopy and magnetic measurement systems. Coordinated by guides of the centre, the attendees were divided in groups and were rotated through synthesis laboratories, x-ray diffractions, cleanrooms and areas dedicated to electrochemistry, batteries or optoelectronics.
Furthermore, a debate session on research work and the development of a scientific career was held. This session allowed students to raise questions and share their concerns.
In the afternoons, the Open Labs initiative encouraged direct contact with researchers, doctorate researchers and students, who were available in their offices and laboratories to offer additional explanations and answer doubts.
The participation in Summer School also provided a space for the ICMOL to advertise their opportunities for the Degree Final Project, internships and Master's programmes linked to the Institute.
