The Faculty of Nursing and Podiatry of the Universitat de València has hosted the III Multidisciplinary Podiatry Conference in which a full day of lectures were given on topics of medical relevance in surgery, biomechanics, alterations, treatments and forensic podiatry.

The opening session was preceded by Mavi Mestre, principal of the Universitat de València; Antoni Merelles and Montserrat Alcahuz, dean and vice-dean of the Faculty of Nursing and Podiatry; Pilar Nieto, President of the College of Podiatrists of the Valencian Community; Juan Carlos Campos, coordinator of the Podiatry degree and Cristina Cuenca Expósito, President of the Valencian Association of Podiatry Students, ASVEP.

Early in the morning and with around 100 registered students from various universities in the country, the lectures began with presentations on sterilisation methods, percutaneous surgery, diagnosis of flat feet, anaesthesia and endovascular management of trophic lesions of the foot. Emphasising the multidisciplinary nature of the event, the topics were presented by professionals from different fields of study such as traumatology, anaesthesiology, physiotherapy and vascular radiology.

In the afternoon, the topics covered included the treatment of tendinopathies, sterilisation methods, forensic paediatrics and gait disorders in children with neuro-orthopaedic problems. To end the day, presentations were given on the podiatry expert and the study of plantar dermatoglyphic identification in podoscopy, the ponseti method, instrumentalised exploration of triceps syralis hyperresistance and the workshop on functional ankle-foot bandages.

This multidisciplinary day hosted high-level international speakers, as was the case with the participation of podiatrists from Real Madrid and Levante UD. In addition, the students were part of remarkable foot surgery workshops with 5 pieces of cadavers in four classrooms with different themes.
