On April 28, the inauguration of the 57th edition of the Fira del Llibre de València will take place. After two years, this edition will be held again in the spring, since last year’s edition was exceptionally held in autumn because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The main Valencian public authorities are expected in the inaugural visit like every year to stop by all stands and get to know the main novelties presented in this edition. These authorities include the Principal of the Universitat de València, M. Vicenta Mestre; the Mayor of Valencia, Joan Ribó; the president of Les Corts, Enric Morera, the General Manager of Culture, Carmen Amoraga; or the Head of Publications of the Universitat de València, Teresa Ferrer, among others.

Among the works that can be found at stands 3 and 4, the ones of the Universitat de València’s Bookstore, stand out the Guía de la Valencia del primer franquismo (1939-1948) (Guide to the Valencia of the first Francoism 1939-1948), a book co-published with the Universitat Politècnica de València’s publishing house, and the works about Joan Fuster published this year in celebration of the centennial of his birth, such as the novelties from the Joan Fuster Chair or the book Joan Fuster: escritos de crítica cultural (Joan Fuster: writings of cultural criticism).

The Fira will be opened from April 28th to Sunday, May 8th, and a higher attendance rate than previous years is expected to enjoy the great celebration of books in the city of Valencia.
