The inauguration of the Course in Parliamentary Law “The Parliament: among direct and representative democracy”

The principal of the Universitat de València, Maria Vicenta Mestre, has signed the convention alongside with the President of the Valencian Corts, Enric Morera. The Sapienza-Università di Roma also participates in course.

The Universitat de València and the Valencian Corts have inaugurated the Course in Parliamentary Law “The Parliament: among direct and representative democracy”. The Principal of the Universitat de València, Maria Vicenta Mestre, and the President of the Valencian Corts, Enric Morera, started the ceremony when they signed the convention of the course. The course will take place in the Sala Vinatea at the Palace of the Corts.

Mestre highlighted in her inauguration speech the importance of this course, as it will address important challenges of current Western democracies. The principal has congratulated the managers of this initiative and all the people who will participate in the course, which is intended to reflect on the institutions. “The University is not only teaching and researching, but also dealing with contemporary problems and contributing to give answers to the challenges and needs of society.  From dialogue and free exchange of ideas” he highlighted.

Enric Morera stated: “Education is the base of our society. This is the reason why public institutions must provide resources to the students, so that they can take advantage of it”. Morera has mentioned the values of the University and the connection between both institutions. He finished his speech with a message of hope and trust in the institutions in spite of the current issues in western democracies. He encouraged students to take advantage of this unique educational opportunity.
