José Antonio Calañas, new Dean of the Faculty of Language Studies, Translation and Communication

José Antonio Calañas Continente(Priego de Córdoba, 1964)

He earned his doctorate in philology from the University of Cordoba and alicenciatura(former Spanish undergraduate degree) in German philology from the Universitat de València. He began teaching at the University of Cordoba in 1994, where he became head of the Department of German Philology. He has been an associate professor at the University of Cordoba since January 1999 and at the Universitat de València since February 2003.

During his academic career, he has held the positions of Vice-Dean for International Relations and Student Affairs of the Faculty of Philosophy and Literature at the University of Cordoba (1999-2001) and Director of the Department of English and German at the UV (2006-2012, 2018-2024). During his management periods at the UV, he also took on the role of representative of the departments’ GoverningCouncil at the UV’s Blasco Ibañez Campus.

Professor Calañas is the author or co-author of several scientific publications and has directed many doctoral and pre-doctoral projects. He is also a member of international research groups on sustainable lexicography and is socially committed.
