Julia Sevilla talks about The Constituents, “Women and Literature” cycle organised at La Nau.

The presence and participation of women in the constitutional legislature has been a significant remedial work of the work of the female Members of 1978 that Professor Julia Sevilla has made and that will present in the cycle of conferences 'Women and Literature' today Wednesday, February 1 at 19:00 in the Aula Magna of La Nau Cultural Center.

The Universitat de València, in collaboration with the Equality Unit, and the Acadèmia Valenciana de la Llengua have programmed this cycle with the aim of putting in value the contribution of women throughout history in fields such as Literature, education, science, art or law, among other disciplines, coinciding with the prolongation of the acts around the figure of Sister Isabel de Villena as Writer of the Year.

Julia Sevilla is graduated in Law by the Universitat de València, where she has been a professor of Department of Constitutional Law, Political and Administrative Sciences since 1980. She has been Lawyer of Cortes Valencianas, founder and chairwoman of Mujeres Progresistas and founder and chairwoman of Red feminista de Derecho Constitucional.

With The Constituents. Presence and participation of women in the constitutional legislature, Julia Sevilla will introduce us to the female parliamentarians, deputies and senators spotlighting all the people who intervened in the establishment of democracy and thus complete the memory of the transition. Julia Sevilla's research on female parliamentarians in the constituent legislature arises as a result of compliance with one of the actions for equality of women and men approved in Council of Ministers (2005). 

The “Women and Literature” cycle takes places at Aula Magna of La Nau Cultural Centre and consists in eleven conferences which are imparted from January 2017 to January 2018.  Admission is free and limited to the room capacity.

During the following months, women such as Josepa Cortés (Universitat de València), Julia Benavent (Universitat de València), Isabel Morant (Universitat de València), Carmen Alfaro (Universitat de València), Ana Aguado (Universitat de València), Capitolina Díaz (Universitat de València), Emilia Serra (Universitat de València), Carmen Agulló (Universitat de València) and Verònica Cantó (AVL) will come to aula Magna of La Nau, the last one closing the cycle and puting a stop to the cultural acts dedicated to Sor Isabel de Villena, Writer of the Year, organised by Acadèmia Valenciana de la Llengua.
