M. Carmen Bañó has been elected by the Faculty of Biological Sciences for the Office of the Dean

The Faculty of Biological Sciences of the Universitat de València has chosen this Tuesday M. Carmen Bañó for the Office of the Dean. She obtained 33 votes in favour and one blank vote. She replaces the previous dean Javier Lluch after two terms of office.

The members of the new team are Eduardo García Roger (vice-dean of Studies), Mercedes Fernández (International Relations), Francisco Pérez Sánchez (Infrastructures), Inmaculada García Robles (Quality), and Maite Martínez Pastor (Registrar’s Office).

M. Carmen Bañó is a professor of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of the Faculty of Biological Sciences since 1988. She has also been secretary of the Department (1999-2002), office of the secretary at the Faculty (2003-2005), coordinator of the Exchange Programme (since 2009) and coordinator of the Biology’s Degree (since 2013). In addition, she is member of the University Senate. M. Carmen Bañó has been teaching different Degrees related to the Faculty: Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences.

Regarding her research activity, she received her doctorate in 1988 and completed her academic training with doctoral stays in MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) of Boston and NIMR (National Institute for Medical Research) of London. Currently, her research is focused on the study at the molecular level in the control of the cell cycle. She works with a model organism as the yeast. Her work has been published in prestigious international journals and she has a scientific activity recognized for 30 years of research.
