Today, Thursday, the Universitat presents its literary novelties at the 54 Fira del Llibre de València

One more year, La Llibreria i Publicacions of the Universitat de València will be present at the most important editorial encounter of the Valencian cultural agenda, the 54 Fira del Llibre of Valencia. The event, at the gardens of Viveros from 25th April to 5th May, will bring us the novelties of the Valencian publishing scene with a series of presentations and the presence of authors signing books in more than 100 booths where bookstores and publishers will show their proposals.

The Llibreria i Publicacions of the Universitat de València this year will occupy booths 65 and 66 of the site and there you will be able to see more than a hundred novelties of the last year, as well as some of the editorial fund most requested by the attending public.

Four book presentations are the events organised by the Universitat de València at this fair. Today, Thursday 2nd May, at 6 p.m. at the Sala Museu 1 will be the traditional presentation of the novelties that will be attended by Mavi Mestre, rector of the Universitat de València; in addition, in the presentation will intervene: Antoni Ferrando, emeritus professor of the Universitat de València and author of ‘Fabra, Moll i Sanchis Guarner. La construcció d’una llengua moderna de cultura des de la diversitat’; Joan Romero, full university professor of human Geography of the Universitat de València and director of the collection Territorial Development Series 'Papers', whose first two titles are ‘La sociedad valenciana en transformación’ and ‘Geografía del despilfarro en España”; Rosa M. Gregori Roig, chief of the Arxivos Section of the Arxiu of the Corona d'Aragó and editor of the book 'La Vall d'Uixó en els temples de la lloctinència de l'infant Martí (1372-1396)'; and Tobies Grimaltos, full university professor of Philosophy at the Universitat de València and editor of  "Joan Fuster: Indagació, Pensment i Literature".

On Fiday, 3rd May at12:10 p.m. at the Sala Museu 1, the novelties of the Office of the Vice-Principal for Territorial Projection and Society will be presented. The event will be chaired by Jorge Hermosilla, vice-principal of the Universitat de València, Antoni Gaspar, president of the Diputació de València and José Mª Company, director of Business and Marketing of Caixa Popular. The act will also involve Enric Olivares, co-author and coordinator of the publication “Festes, danses i processons als arxius de la Casa Insa. La Ribera del Xúquer”; Emilio Barba, head of the Office of the Vice-Principal for Territorial Projection and Society and coordinator of the book “El patrimonio natural de la Ribera del Júcar. Conocimiento, conservación y puesta en valor”; Josep Vicent Frechina, president of FIECOV for the book “Reptes de la vertebració territorial valenciana” and Luis Arciniega, coordinator of the publication “Aproximaciones de contexto al castillo-palacio de Alaquàs”.

Finally, on Sunday 5th May at 1 p.m. at the Sala Museu 1, the last two books of the European Prize for Scientific Dissemination will be presented: “El imperio de los datos. El Big Data, la privacidad y la sociedad del futuro” and “L’imperi de les dades. El ‘big data’: oportunitats i amenaces” by Xavier Duran and “Les molècules de la vida. Breviari per a bioquímics novells” by David González. In addition to the two authors, the act will be presented by the director of the Sense Fronteres and Sin Fronteras collections, Carolina Moreno.

The events began on Friday 26th April with the presentation of the book ‘Vint-i-un poemes d’amor’ (1974-1976) by Adrienne Rich. The act was attended by Encarna Sant-Celoni and Isabel Robles, translators of the book, and Carme Manuel, co-director of the Javier Coy d'Estudis Nord-Americans collection.

During the days of the 54 Fira del Llibre de València, in addition to the presentation events, we will have the visit of some of our authors in our booth (65 and 66) who will sign their books: Margarita Ibáñez, Jose María Castillo del Carpio, Francisco Pons, Ferran Esquilache, Vicenta Rate, Antoni Ferrando and Abel Soler.
