La Nau holds the 2nd Event of Bibliophilia

On Tuesday 19 and Wednesday 20 November, the Centre Cultural La Nau of Universitat de València has become the venue of the 2nd Event of Bibliophilia. During these two day, at the Aula Magna of the historical centre of the Universitat, the Valencian Bibliographic Society Jerònima Galés has offered a roundtable, conferences, the presentation of Pasiones Bibliográficas 4 magazine, and the facsimile and the study of Verdadera y copiosa descripción de la insigne ciudad de Valencia published in 1592 among other activities, in which participated important figures of the field of Bibliophila.

The event started with the speech of the Vice-Principal of the Universitat de València, Antonio Ariño, and the President of the Valencian Bibliographic Society Jerònima Galés (SBJVG), Rafael Solaz and has held a huge number of bibliographers, historians and researchers. Some of them were Xavier Agenjo Bullón (Ignacio Herrando de Larramendi Foundation), Everilda Ferriols Segrelles (Nicolau Primitiu Valencian Library) or Carlos López (Record of the Aragon Crown), among others.

As part of this event, on Wednesday 20 took place the first award’s ceremony of IDEAL Awards to the bibliographic pathway, which were given to José Huguet Chanzá and Catherine Baudin Mazin, for their passion and execution in the photographic collecting field. On the other hand, that same day, has taken place at Aula Magna the presentation of Verdadera y copiosa descripción de la insigne ciudad de València, a facsimile of the first guide of València; whose work is made by Pablo Cisneros Álvarez and José Carlos Gomis Corell.

The Valencian Bibliographic Society Jerònima Galés

The SBVJG, which celebrates its 25th Anniversary, is the organiser of this event that has become an indispensable meeting of the Valencian bibliographic field. This society was born in 1994, and took the name of Jerònima Galés for the first printer woman of València. At the same time, the SJG promotes projects related to the promotion, edition and graphic arts. Also, their aim is to recover, maintain and foster the word and to the communication through the most beautiful pages of the book.
