On the 14th of May, the Cultural Centre La Nau will host the dialogue conference Mejorar la gobernanza para que España avance on the occasion of the publication of the book Para que España avance by the economist Carlos Sebastián. The act will be celebrated in the Paraninf of the Cultural Centre La Nau at 7p.m. and will count with the participation of Juan Romero, professor of Human Geography in the Universitat de València, who will moderate the conference and Francisco Alcalá, professor of Economics in the University de Murcia. In Para que España avance, Sebastián lists the institutional and productive failures with the purpose of analysing from the principal political and economic Spanish organisations the problems that stop Spain from improving in productivity and management quality. In addition, he proposes a series of solutions through feasible lines of reforms that he expects to be carried out. ‘When describing the different institutional aspects and reflecting about their relevance, I note down reform lines which are feasible and gradual and have the capacity to improve the functioning of economy and any aspects of our society’ claims the expert in the book. The conference will deal with these principles.

Carlos Sebastián was professor of Economics at the UCM until he retired in September of 2014.  He studied at the University of Madrid, University of Essex (UK) a M.A. in Economics and he attended the Research Student at the London School of Economics.
