The Cultural Centre La Nau will host, on Friday the 17th of May, the second conversation of the Zero Abjection Democratic International Group (Zadig) of Valencia, titled ‘La democracia amenaza. Entre la burocracia y las nuevas formas de totalitarismos’. The debate organised by Zadig-Valencia, will take place in the Paraninf of La Nau at 19p.m. and will be chaired by Antonio Ariño, Vice-Principal of Culture and Sports of the Universitat de València. The entry is free until seating capacity.

The emergence of the extreme right in Europe has opened a new debate in the European democracy about the possibility of recovering the sovereignty of the nation-states, which calls into question the rule of law anchored in the European Union. Politics based on hatred have increased in countries such as Hungary, Czech Republic, Italy, Austria, Germany and even Spain, and have emerged new forms of totalitarianism.

This European phenomenon will be the main topic in the debate of the Second Conversation of the Zadig-Valencia, which will be analysed through psychoanalysis and politics. For that purpose, the conference will count with the participation of José Vallacañas, director of the department of Philosophy and Society in the Complutense University of Madrid; with Adolf Beltrán, director of eldiario.es in the Valencian Community; the journalist Lola Bañón, professor of Journalism in the Universitat de València and analyst of the Middle East and the Mediterranean; with Pilar Requena, journalist and reporter of the programme ‘En Portada’ of TVE and professor of international relations; Joanquín Caretti, psychoanalyst, member of the World Association of Psychoanalysis and responsible of the Zadig network in Spain. The reunion will be moderated by Xavier Giner, psychoanalyst, member of the World Association of Psychoanalysis and professor of product design in the EASD-Valencia, enrolled in the Zadig network.

Zadig is an international group created the 14th of May of 2017 in France, which main objective is to call into question those topics and current events considered as relevant through psychoanalysis. In this way, aims to approach to politics and to citizens the psychoanalyst discourse, applied in the topics which affect to the daily life of citizens.
