This Friday 9 June at 19:00 it will take place at La Nau the premiere of the film ‘PA-RA-DA’ with the participation of the protagonist of the story, the French and Algerian clown Miloud Oukili. The full length-film had a great reception when it was presented at the Venice Festival of 2008 and now it takes place the first release in Spain.

The event, which will start at 19:00, is organised jointly by the Plataforma Per Russafa and the Office of the Vice-Principal for Culture and Equality of the Universitat de València. It is part of the series ‘Cine y Educación’ initiated in Russafa by this association. The full length-film is the first film of Marco Pontecorvo, the son of the director of The Battle of Algiers. This event represents the film’s first release in Spain.

The film shows the human adventure of Miloud Oukili who, in the early 90’s, committed himself to save the street children of Bucharest (the so-called “boskettari”) from their destiny of drugs and prostitution. The odyssey of Miloud starts when he decides to join this group, against of the bureaucratic position of the NGOs, and to create an association which makes it possible to rescue them from that world by teaching them how to be clowns. A hard history which is authorised for all ages and which ends with a success: the creation of ‘PA-RA-DA’, a circus troupe whose work remains in force. In November 1999, Miloud received the prize UNICEF2000 by his commitment with children.

The film of Marco Pontecorvo is a sample of a cinema type which focuses on the social commitment. Furthermore, in the projection and the following talk there will be Mia Zemfir, one of the Romanian girls rescued by Miloud, and Daniel Gascó, critic of the Cartelera Turia who will present the event.
