La Nau, venue for the thirtieth edition of the Didactic-Musical School Festival of Choirs, Instrumental Groups and Dances

On the 2nd and 3rd of May, the Cultural Centre La Nau will host the XXX edition of the Didactic-Musical School Festival of Choirs, Instrumental Groups and Dances in València. A total of 11 choral groups will take part in the festival, promoted by the Department of Didactics of Musical, Plastic and Corporal Expression of the Universitat de València, which will perform on Thursday 2 May at 6.30 pm and Friday 3 May at 10.30 am. The meeting will bring together more than 440 children in the Paraninfo Hall. Admission is free until full capacity is reached.

Óscar Barberà, dean of the Faculty of Education, will be in charge of presenting the activities on Thursday 2 May, with Remigi Morant, director of the Department of Didactics of Musical, Plastic and Body Expression, and Agustí Alaman, coordinator of the festival. Afterwards, it will be the turn of the performances of L’Olivera Choir, CEIP L'Olivera (l'Eliana), Escuela La Masía Choir, Escuela Las Carolines Choir, Stma. Trinidad (València) Choral and Allegro Once (València) Choral. At the end of the festival there will be a common song of the work 'Tot Passa', music by Josep Lluís Valldecabres, lyrics by Marc Granell and piano accompaniment by Jesús Debón.

On Friday 3 May, Antonio Ariño, vice-rector of Culture and Sport at the Universitat de València, will welcome the audience. On this second day will perform the CEIP Choir Crist (Meliana), l'Estany's Band CEIP Juan Carlos (Almenara), the Minuetto CEIP El Parque Choir (La Cañada), the Armonía CEIP Rafael Mateu Cámara Choir (València), the CEIP Instrumental Group Fernando Baixauli Chornet (Sedaví) and the CE Marni Secondary Choir. At the end of the ceremony the common song 'Tot passa' will also be performed, and Pascual Pastor and Gordero will be in charge of making the concluding speech.

The Didactic-Musical School Festival of Choirs, Instrumental Groups and Dances in València, held for the first time in 1989, aims to promote the connection between education and musical culture, especially in this edition held at the La Nau Cultural Centre, historic headquarters of the Universitat de València. The festival aims to offer a framework, an open cultural space and claim the importance of musical education through the demonstration of didactic concerts and musical activities and at the same time fierce visible and supporting schools and institutes to achieve a normalization in all children of musical education and culture.
