Six gold medals, three silver medals and three bronze medals were obtained by the archery team of the Universitat de València at the CAEU this week.  Five universities participated in the championship:  Universitat Politècnica de València, Universitat d’Alacant, Universitat Catòlica de València, Universitat Jaume I and Universitat de València. The last one was the organiser of the championship.

The team headed by Vicente Palomar participated in different modalities: recurve bow, composite bow and barebow.

Medals won by the Universitat de València 

In the recurve bow modality, in the women’s first category, Elena Larrea obtained the fist position and Alexandra Sempere obtained the silver medal; in the men’s first category Rubén Padro was the winner of the bronze medal; in the women’s second category the bronze medal was obtained by Odile Jeanmougin and in the men’s one the gold medal was obtained by Nador Jordá and the silver medal by Pablo Guillermo; in the women’s third category the winner was Pilar Alberola; and in the men’s category the winner was one of the UV athletes, Nicolás Gabaldón.

In the barebow modality  (with only one category), Adrián Delgado obtained the bronze medal.

Finally, in the first category of composite bow modality, the Universitat de València obtained the silver medal thanks to Javier Cerezo; and in the second category, Gonzalo Murgui was the winner of the gold medal.

The team coach, Vicente Palomar, had already said some days before: ‘We have archers who will have promising results.’ Now, the following goal of the archery university team is the Spanish University Championship, which is also organised by the Universitat de València. It will take place from the 6th to the 8th of May.
