The Universitat de València is the 5th best university in Spain and is among the best 100 universities in Europe in terms of academic performance

The IUNE Observatory analyses the researching activity of state and private Spanish universities. It classified the Universitat de València as the 5th best university in Spain in terms of scientific production in 2018 (26.427 articles). This is the 5.85% of the Spanish scientific production in Web of Science between 2007 and 2016. According to the first edition of Europe Teaching Rankings 2018, the Universitat de València ranges [76-100] among other European universities. The ranking assesses the academic performance, in which the 50% of the score is obtained by the results of the Europe Teaching Rankings 2018.

According to the data of IUNE Observatory, the Universitat de València is the 2nd Spanish university that has received more national research awards. It is also the 4th in terms of references, percentage of publications in the 3 most important magazines of each scientific area, co-authorship rate and number of documents produced with international collaboration. In addition, it is the 5th in terms of publications in the first quartile and generated documents conducted with national collaboration.

The Observatory is promoted by researchers of the universities that form the Alianza 4U (Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona y Universitat Pompeu Fabra) and analyses some aspects of universities such as the quality of the teaching body, the recognition of the institution, the scientific activity, innovation, competitiveness, financing and training abilities.

By fields of knowledge in the IUNE Observatory, the Universitat de València stands out as the 5th university in Spain in Life Sciences, Social Sciences, Medicine, Pharmacology and Experimental Sciences. It is the 8th in Arts and Humanities and the 10th in Engineering, Architecture, and Communication Sciences.

79 higher-education institutions have been analysed (48 state institutions and 31 private) and bibliographical data have been provided by Web of Science-Clarivate Analytics.

 

It is among the best 100 universities in Europe

The Universitat de València ranges [76-100] among European Universities, according to the first edition of the Europe Teaching Rankings 2018, which is a version of the Times Higher Education (THE). The 50% of the score of each institution is obtained by the results of the European Student Survey. This classification uses 13 performance indicators classified in four groups: resources used for teaching, the commitment of the students, the academic results, the environment and inclusion.

The British universities of Oxford and Cambridge and the French university of La Sorbonne top the Europe Teaching Rankings. According to the ranking, the best Spanish universities are Navarra, Barcelona and Autònoma de Barcelona. The Universitat de València (Spain) ranges [11-14]. Elsevier-Scopus is the provider of bibliometric data for this classification.
