The University of Valencia reward its athletes in the IX Gala de l’Esport

The University of valencia will honour its best athletes in the ninth edition of the Gala de l'Esport. The event will take place in the Faculty of Philology, Translation and Communication (Blasco Ibáñez Campus), the next Tuesday, October 24, at a ceremony presided over by the Rector Esteban Morcillo, who will be accompanied by the Vice-Rector of Culture and Equality, Antonio Ariño, and the director of the Servei d'Educació Física i Esports, José Campos.

The ceremony will also be attended by the General Director of Sports of the Valencian Government, Josep Miquel Moya, and the councillor responsible for Sports of the City of Valencia, Maite Girau, among other authorities of the Valencian sport.

The objective of this event is to acknowledge the merit of the athletes from the different competitions throughout the last season. 

This year, the awarded athletes will be Neus Motoso, former player of the women's football team; Vladis Nagiev, former player of the men’s volleyball team; Estela Benita, karateka; Juan Calvo, former sailor and current coach of the sailing team; and, The Levante UDF will be awarded as institution.

During the event, it will be mentioned all the medals won by the athletes in different championships, both regional and national, university competitions, as well as the good international results achieved in the European University Championships, after having obtained several metals with the representation of the football, karate, judo, taekwondo and rugby teams.

Besides acknowledging sporting successes, this event will also serve to present the teams that will represent the University of Valencia each match day in the regional university competition, the CADU (Regional University Sports Championship), and later in the CEU (University Championships of Spain).
