The University initiated the participatory process to draw up the 1st Pla de Diversitat with an informative session on Monday 1 March. The meeting was attended by: Elena Martínez, Vice-rector of Equality, Diversity and Sustainability; Ruth Mestre, Head of Iniciatives in Diversity; Manuel González, Student’s Delegate; and Yaiza Pérez, the lecturer in charge of leading the participatory process. Those interested were able to follow the session online.

The participatory sessions are open to the entire the university community and have an established meeting schedule. Monday’s informative session can be viewed again here.

This participatory process begins once the Diversities Committee responsible for the design, implementation and monitoring of inclusive policies has been set up, the diagnosis of the situation has been made and the working groups are in full activity.

Following the approval of the Protocol for attention to gender identity and gender expression at the University of Valencia in 2019, and in order to pave the way for the development of the 1st Pla de Diversitats of the University, the Office of the Vice-Principal for Equality, Diversity and Sustainability commissioned the MIDICO research team to carry out a diagnosis on LGTBI and ethno-cultural diversity among the University's student body (2019-2020). Also, a second study on the reality of the University staff is currently being carried out.

The participatory process is open to any member of the university community interested in defining the objectives, identifying and prioritising actions, establishing a timetable and resources, and designing a monitoring and evaluation system for each of the lines of the future Plà de Diversitats.
