The University presents the seven projects awarded in the 4th edition of Activa Cultura
The Cultural Centre of the Universitat de València has taken the presentation of the seven awarded projects of the forth edition of the programme ‘Activa Cultura’. The act has counted with the participation of the Vice-Principal for Culture and Society of the Universitat de València, Ester Alba, and the initiatives coordinator of Activa Cultura, María Ángeles Pérez.

The Vice-Principal Ester Alba has manifested to be proud and satisfied with this initiative that puts in value the cultural participation of university students, which have the opportunity of enjoying through the learning experience that supposes starting these projects.
For her part, María Ángeles Pérez has outlined the originality and diversity of projects presented, which show the cultural activism of university students.
In the present edition seven projects have been selected: ‘Visiones de València’, ‘Puesta en valor de dos anillos arqueológicos islámicos: historia, conservación y difusión’, ‘Vinaròs.JPG’, ‘Escritura creativa’, ‘Simulación parlamentaria: Autonomíza-Te, ‘Imaginar nuevos mundos a través de las artes: de la distopía climática a la utopía comunitaria’ and ‘Jesús Císcar, paseante, fotografiar lo ordinario, insuflar aire’.
All the projects have been carried out by students at the Universitat de València’s undergraduate, master’s or doctorate degrees, and they will be exhibited throughout the university in 2025. A total of 11.000 euros will be destined to this project.
The evaluating commission has been formed by Marcos Durá, delegate of Students from the Universitat de València;Mª Ángeles Pérez, responsible Activa Cultura initiatives; and the technicians from UV,Norberto PiquerasandSalvador Bahilo.
On their forth edition of the Activa Cultura Contest, a total of 18 projects have been presented by graduated students from the Universitat de València.
Winning projects
‘Visiones de Valencia’, directed by Laura Sofía Díaz GutiérrezandMartín Ariel Ciochini de Falco, both students from the Master's Degree in Cultural Management from the Universitat de València. The project, which emerged during the DANA, consists on the realisation of a collage workshop where participants illustrate unique and personal visions of Valencia. Once the workshop is over, all works will be shown in an exhibition that will raise awareness solidarity and resilience after the DANA.
‘Puesta en valor de dos anillos arqueológicos islámicos: historia, conservación y difusión’, an activity with the goal of sensitising about the importance of protecting and getting to know our past. This project is led by Ana Cristina Martínez Barberá, Cultural Heritage master's degree student, and is based in the conservation and valuing of 2 Islamic archeologic rings through a conference/seminar and exhibition.
Paula Moliner Brau, History of Art student in the UV, has been awarded with ‘Vinaròs.JPG’, a photography exhibition with participative methodology through the pictures of people from the village to show the urbanistic and social transformation that Vinaròs has lived with the pass of time.
‘Escritura creativa’, presented by Aisha Yassin, graduated in English Philology by the University of Haifa and is currently cursing forth Year of Medicine in the Universitat de València. Through three workshops, this project pretends to apply writing as a tool to promote self-knowledge and self-care between medicine students, residents, doctors, and professors from the Medicine Faculty through this reflection, critical thinking and collective lecture.
Another project is ‘Simulación parlamentaria: Autonomíza-Te’, created by the Club de Debate Universitario de Valencia(CDUV), a young University association dedicated to oratory training, critical thinking and reasoning. Formed by students from the Tarongers Campus they have been organising debate activities regularly and active participation in youth. ‘Autonomíza-Te’, is a parliamentary simulation in which students represent institutional body to promote negotiating, leadership and politic conscience abilities, debating about environment, immigration and territorial model and other current social, political and economical issues.
Sara Sánchez NistalandMarina Galán Romero-Valdespino, have been awarded with ‘Imaginar nuevos mundos a través de las artes: de la distopía climática a la utopía comunitaria’,a project that proposes a cycle of conversations and interdisciplinary workshops, from philosophy, art and literature, to explore how to create collectively more sustainable, inhabitable and fair futures.
Sara Sánchez is a student in the UV from the master’s degree of Advanced Hispanic Studies; master in Cultural Management by the University Carlos III of Madrid and graduate in Hispanic Studies by the Complutense University of Madrid. Marina Galán is a student from the UV of the master's degree of Human Rights, Democracy and International Justice, graduate in Law and Philosophy by the Complutense University of Madrid.
Lastly, ‘Jesús Císcar, paseante. Fotografiar lo ordinario, insuflarle aire’ by Natalia Polo Chocano, doctor in the History of Art department from the Universitat de València, where she is part of the VALuART Research Group. The sample about this Valencian photograph that has worked almost 30 years in EL PAÍS, puts in value his trajectory and gathers around 40 polaroid in black and white that recall to the analogic photography aesthetic and, without artifices, about the city of Valencia, their streets and inhabitants.
