The debut of the Valencian players could not be more imposing: theDalian Suoyuwan Football Stadium, a modern enclosure with capacity for more than 30,000 spectators where the opening match of the tournament was held. Before a spectacular atmosphere and the stands supporting the local team, the UV lost against theShanghai University of Sport, host and one of the favourites to win, and that eventually won.

In the second and last match of the group stage, the Valencian played against the Universidade do Extremo Sul Catarinense (Brazil), but the UV team could not beat an opponent with such offensive success.

The UV ended its participation by playing a match for the fifth place against the University of Sydney (Australia), in a 1-1- draw in regulation time. The Valencian team scored after a brilliant collective action: a through ball by Claudia Bermejo broke the Australian defensive line and Lucía Canoves got rid of the goalkeeper in the one-on-one that would define the results of the match.
