The Universitat de València will offer, through its Language Centre, the computer-based English test Linguaskill, from Cambridge Assessment English, a not-for-profit foundation of the University of Cambridge. The two organisations have signed a collaboration agreement whereby students who want to graduate, access scholarships (Erasmus, ICEX, la Caixa...) or postgraduate courses can access this exam for the University itself.

The centre also offers the “from home” modality for those students who wish to take the examination from home.

José Andrés Martínez Luciano, Director of the Language Centre od Universitat de València, and Alan Cosgrove, head of the Valencian area of Cambridge, formalised the agreement on 16 December. “With Linguaskill we want to show university students that Cambridge English is at their side to offer them solutions to their real problems; in the specific case of the Universitat de València, to help them obtain scholarships or their degrees. We are thankful to the Language Centre for the effort they have made to provide their students with a computer-based test that recognises their level of English quickly and rigorously” said Alan Cosgrove.

"The language accreditation needs of university students change with the evolution of higher education and the challenges they will face when they graduate. Therefore, offering an English test that responds to this new setting, and that has even been able to adapt to these pandemic times, was very important for our Language Centre” said José Andrés Martínez Luciano.

Linguaskill is a computer-based English test that pursues to provide solutions for university students who need to accredit their level of English urgently to apply for a grant, obtain a university degree or access a postgraduate course. It is a test that offers an easily accessible solution, the results of which are available within 48 hours. The test evaluates from an initial level A1 to C1 or higher and is recognised by the CRUE (Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities) and ACLES (Association of Language Centres in Higher Education); moreover, it has a great international impact as it is present in more than 50 countries.

Another advantage is that it is an adaptive test supported by artificial intelligence, which allows the difficulty of the questions to be adjusted according to the level of English of the person taking it. Cambridge has also developed a “from home” version to offer candidates the possibility of taking the test from home. In addition, the test can be taken in Reading & Listening (combined), Speaking and Writing modules, which can be repeated within three months to improve results.
