The Universitat de València, through the office of the vice-principal for Territorial Projection and Society, and the City Hall of Bétera, together with the economic support of Caixa Popular and the Valencian Provincial Council, organise this debate session on the film Flash of Genious at 5 p.m.

This film is based on real facts, launched in 2008, starring Greg Kinnear and Lauren Graham and directed by Marc Abraham.  It deals with the story of a lecturer who proceed against an important company, Ford, as it took the ownership of his idea: the intermittent windscreen wiper.

The activity consists in a Cinema Forum, watching the film and a  colloquium which counts with the participation of the lecturers of the Universitat de València. Manuel Martínez-Corral, as an expert in optic and optometric instruments, will explain the difficulties which can emerge when we deal with patents regarding this case; and Carolina Sanchis Crespo, as an expert in Procedural Law, will focus on the procedural facts set in the film, in particular, the ones which focus the evidence given by Ford against the main character of the film.

This initiative, which is open to the general public and free, is the result of the close collaboration between the Universitat de València and the City Hall of Bétera, based on an agreement in which the programme Unisocietat as well as several training and education activities in the town, such as this Cinema Forum, are established.
