The University of Valencia has coordinated this year's X Gender Equality Meeting of the Vives University Network, which aims to discuss the most appropriate initiatives to improve the situation of inequality between men and women in universities. The day consisted of a training block, focused on the integration of the gender dimension in research within the calls for competitive projects as well as in the new Law of University Coexistence. Good practices have been shared both in research and in action and prevention of gender violence.

The second block was dedicated to the XVU Gender Equality Working Group, where the results of the annual plan were presented and new actions for the 2022-2023 academic year were evaluated.

The day started with the lecture: 'Equality, where are we now?' by Isabel Morant, professor of Modern History and member of the University Institute for Women's Studies at the University of Valencia.

This was followed by the first of the experience panels on Advances and resistance in the incorporation of the gender perspective in research with contributions from Consuelo León Llorente, director of the Observatory of Family Policies and head of the Equality and Inclusion Unit at the International University of Catalonia; Silvia Rueda Pascual, territorial director at the Ministry of Innovation, University, Science and Digital Society and Professor at the School of Engineering of the University of Valencia; Juana Aznar Márquez, professor of the Department of Economic and Financial Studies at the Miguel Hernández University of Elche; and Nuria Romo Avilés, professor of the Department of Social Anthropology and member of the University Institute for Research on Gender and Women's Studies at the University of Granada

In the afternoon session, the day will focus on the new law of university coexistence with the presentation of Adela Serra Rodríguez, professor of Civil Law and representative of the Assessor of the University of Valencia. Anna Berga and Timoneda, general secretary of the University Ramon Llull and president of the Women and Science Committee of the Interuniversity Council of Catalonia (CIC) spoke next with a paper on the protocols against gender and LGBT violence in Catalan universities.

To close the day, there was a round table of experiences on gender violence in universities with the sharing of different resources that some of the universities of the Vives Network have, such as the Violeta Space at the University of Valencia; the online course: 'Online, free and safe' at the University Pompeu Fabra; the actions to raise awareness and prevention of masclist violence at the University of Lleida; and the diagnosis of masclist and lgtbifophobic violence among the staff of the Open University of Catalunya (UOC).

Since 2013, the universities of the Vives Network have been working through this group of experts to eliminate existing inequalities between men and women at the university and have published the collection of Guidelines for university teaching with a gender perspective or the reports on the gender perspective in teaching and research at universities.
