Light pollution, conflict in Syria or depopulation to be discussed at Unisocietat conferences in March

The 12 headquarters of Unisocietat will host conferences given by professors and researchers from the Universitat de València throughout the month of March. This complementary activity to the UNISOCIETAT academic year is free of charge.

The themes of this cycle of conferences are wide ranging as a result of the diversity of departments of the Universitat de València. 11 conferences will be given during the month of March.

Biology will be the protagonist of the conference on 4 March in Bétera, which will be given by Professor Manel Porcar (Institute of Integrative Systems Biology. UV).

José Roberto Pérez (International Law "Adolfo Miaja de la Muela". UV) will also talk on the 4th in Benetússer about The keys of the conflict in Siria.

Light pollution will be the subject of the talk in Ontinyent on the 5th, where the Professor of Analytical Chemistry of the Universitat de València, Ángel Morales, will give a lecture entitled Oceans of light that drown us.

Professor José Cantó Doménech (Experimental and Social Sciences Teaching Department) will give the conference in Cullera on 10 March, entitled ¿Is anybody there? The search of science to find extra-terrestrial life.

Marketing will be the subject of the conference in Gandia on the 11th, in which Professor Carmen Pérez (Marketing and Market Research. UV) will design her speech around the title Marketing in the hypermarket. ¿How much did you overbuy?.

What we see in plants but don’t affect us will be the title of the conference given by Isabel Mateu (Botany and Geology. UV), which will be pronounced on the 12th in the headquarters of Unisocietat in Massamagrell.

Music will be the protagonist in the talk in Paterna on 12 March, in which Professor Ana Mª Botella (Teaching of Musical, Visual and Corporal Expression. UV) will base her speech on the world of opera.

On 24 March, L'Eliana will welcome Professor Monica Bolufer (Modern and Contemporary History) who will share with the attendees the conference Women and Illustration in Europe and America.

Professor Esperanza Navarro (Evolutionary and Educational Psychology. UV) will offer in Alzira on the 24th the Claves of successful aging in the world: why are we interested in Blue Zones?

 The practice of physical activity in adults has also a place in the Unisocietat conferences in March, and will be given in Quart de Poblet on the 25th by Professor Vicente Año (Physical and Sports Education. UV).

Javier Esparcia (Geography. UV) will tackle The future of our nations: depopulation to debate on 26 March in Requena.

Cycle of conferences UNISOCIETAT, Spring 2020

The cycle of conferences UNISOCIETAT, Spring 2020 has been organized by the Vice-principal for Territorial Projection and Society, sponsored by Caixa Popular and with the collaboration of the Provincial Council of Valencia and the city councils. The purpose of these multidisciplinary talks is to complement the academic courses of the UNISOCIETAT programme, which brings together more than 1,700 enrolled students during the 2019-2020 academic year. The conferences will continue monthly throughout the current academic year at the 12 headquarters: Alzira, Bétera, Benetússer, Cullera, l’Eliana, Massamagrell, Paterna, Quart de Poblet, Requena, Riba-roja de Túria, Gandia (under the name Unimajors) y Ontinyent (in collaboration with Caixa Ontinyent).
