The conference was inaugurated on Friday 22nd of November by the vice-Principal of Territorial Projection and Society, Jorge Hermosilla; the Dean of the Faculty of Geography and History and the Director of Institutional Relations and Social Responsibility of Caixa Popular, Paco Alós. The seminar was held at the Palmireno Room of the Faculty of Geography and History, that gathered almost a hundred attendees.

The coordinator of the day, Ángel Morales, Professor of Analytical Chemistry and Head of Initatives of the Office of the Vice-Principal for Territorial Projection and Society, explained that the purpose of this project was to “to raise awareness of the importance of multidisciplinary aspects in studies related to the enhancement and conservation of cultural heritage in the territory”.

Professor Ángel Morales has given as an example of this new perspective of the study of Cultural Heritage the existence of multidisciplinary units such as ArchaeChemis, which has the collaboration of members of different departments (Analytical Chemistry, Prehistory, Archaeology and Ancient History, Applied Physics and Electromagnetism, Optics and Mathematics) within the Universitat de València.

José Luis Jiménez (Director of the Master's Degree in Cultural Heritage, UV), Beatriz Santamarina (Sociology and Social Anthropology, UV), Mª José Mascarell (Administrative and Procedural Law, UV), Clodoaldo Roldán (Applied Physics and Electromagnetism, UV) and Antonio Bravo, Director of Cultural Heritage and Museums of the Generalitat Valenciana, followed by Eugeni de Manuel, coordinator of the Federación Valenciana de Municipios y Provincias (Valencian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces) participated as lecturers.

The afternoon session included a round table moderated by Ángel Morales on the multidisciplinary nature of cultural heritage and experiences in the territory. Consuelo Mata (Prehistory, Archaeology and Ancient History, UV), Agustín Pastor (Analytical Chemistry, UV), Oreto Garcia (Prehistory, Archaeology and Ancient History, UV), Rafael Gil (Art History, UV), Javier Navarro (Modern History, UV), Eva Garcia (Diputació de València) and Emilio Iranzo (Geography, UV) participated on the round table.

The conference was organised by the Universitat de València through the Office of the Vice-Principal for Territorial Projection and Society in collaboration of the Faculty of Geography and History, the Analytical Chemistry Department and the Master’s Degree in Cultural Heritage: Identification, Analysis and Management and the Master’s Degree in Archaeology, with financing from Caixa Popular.
