Manuel Lomas, new dean of the Faculty of Geography and History

Manuel Lomas is the new dean of the Faculty of Geography and History of the Universitat de València. He replaces full-time university professor Josep Montesinos, who has completed his two terms of office. Lomas obtained 35 votes in favour, out of a total of 49 voting members.

The new dean’s team is composed by Emilio Iranzo (secretary), Marta García Carrión (vice-dean for Studies and Academic Organisation), Mireia López (Quality, Educational Innovation and International Relations), Frederic Aparisi (Culture and Students Participation) and Aleix Eixea (Economics and New Technologies).

Manuel Lomas Cortés (Valencia, 1980) holds a PhD in History and has been a tenured university professor in the Department of Modern and Contemporary History since 2020. Specialised in the study of the Moorish minority and the Mediterranean policy of the Hispanic monarchy in the 17th century, he is currently the principal investigator of a project dealing with Spanish-Moroccan relations in the Modern Age. He also coordinates the Biblioteca de Estudios Moriscos collection (Library of Moorish Studies) (PUV).

Secretary of the Faculty of Geography and History since 2018, his team includes several members of the former dean's period, Josep Montesinos, along with new additions.
