Mercé Viana, Revista Camacuc and Nel·lo Pellisser will receive the Vicent Ventura Award this Wednesday in La Nau Cultural Centre

The Aula Magna from La Nau Cultural Centre will take this Wednesday, 14th May, at 7:30pm, the presentation ceremony of the 26th Vicent Ventura Award, that will go this year to Mercé Viena Martínez and the Revista Camacuc (2025 Vicent Ventura Awards), and Nel·lo Pellisser Rossell (2025 Vicent Ventura Century Award).

This recognition, established by the Universitat de València in 1998, year of the death of the Valencian journalist, will be given to people or groups that have been distinguished for their civic trajectory and the compromise with the culture and Catalan language.

The Centenary Award Vicent Ventura wants to commemorate that last 26th April, 2024 one hundred years from the birth of this vocational journalist had passed. He reconverted in businessman, publisher, economist and politician.

The jury of the awards is made up of representatives of the Universitat de València, the Universitat Jaume I, CCOO, Intersindical Valenciana, UGT, the Unió Llauradora i Ramadera, the Unió de Periodistes Valencians and of some who had a close relation with Ventura, such as professors Ramon Lapiedra and Àngel Llàcer, philologist Vicent Pitarch, author Alfons Cervera, journalist Rosa Solbes and essayist Francesc Pérez Moragón.

Nel·lo Pellisser Rosell

Tenured Professor of Audiovisual Communication and Advertising from the Universitat de València from 2012. Graduate in Information Science through the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and doctor in Audiovisual Communication through the Universitat de València - (Extraordinary Award of doctorate, 2006). Between 1989 and 2012 he works as a journalist in the press (La Vanguardia, El Temps, Mediterráneo-delegación Valencia, Diari de Barcelona, El Observador, El Mundo), radio (Ràdio 9) and television (Canal 9-RTVV), activity he combined with teaching as adjunctprofessor in Audiovisual Communication between 1995 and 2012.

Furthermore, the articles and papers in congresses, his last published works in book format are the anthology of articles ‘Vicent Ventura, periodisme contracorrent’ (2024) and the co-edition of ‘Géneros (Meta) literarios digitales y creación audiovisual. Aplicaciones educativas y profesionales’ (2024). Other old works are ‘Martí Domínguez i Barberà: La passió per la paraula’ (2004), ‘El solc de l’escriptura: anàlisi del discurs periodístic de Martí Domínguez Barberà’ (2011) and ‘Las comisiones parlamentarias de investigación: El accidente de la Línea 1’ (2019), the last one as co-author. As co-editor and/or author, he has participated among other volumes in ‘Mutaciones discursivas en el siglo XXI: la política en los medios y las redes’ (2019), ‘Notes d’un desficiós. Joan Fuster’ (2017), ‘Ser Joan Fuster; 33 visions sobre l’escriptor’ (2008), ‘El debate sobre la cultura de la imagen’ (2003) and ‘Justicia y representación mediática’ (2001). As a scriptwriter he has intervened in diverse documentaries, such as ‘Ser Joan Fuster’ (2008), ‘Carles Salvador, la llarga vida de les paraules’ (2012) and ‘Fuster i la meua família’ (2022), among others.

Mercé Viana

Mercé Viana is teacher and licenced in Philosophy and CCEE. She has research proficiency through the Universitat de València Didactic University Expert of the language through the Complutense University of Madrid.

She has worked in all educational levels from Preschool Education to University. As well as in the exercise of Teacher Training. Currently, she is dedicated to literary creation. The Agencia de Lectura de Alfafar (Parque Alcosa) has her name.

She has been awarded with many prizes of Educational Innovation from the Valencian Department of Culture, two literary grants from the Valencian Provincial Council and different literary awards: Vila Benetússer, La Forest d’Arana, Vicent Silvestre de la Ciutat d’Alzira, Carmesina, Samaruc, Paterna, Meliana, Catarroja (Benvingut Oliver).

She has received many recognitions like for instance: Homenatge de la Fundació Bromera per al Foment de la lectura (2018), Homenatge Lletra Lila de l’Associació d’Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (2018) Porrot d’Honor de les Lletres Valencianes (2019), Homenatge Guaix, (2021, Escola Valenciana); Bibliotecària d’Honor pel Col·legi Oficial de Bibliotecaris i Documentalistes de la CV 2024.

She has published more than a hundred works of child, young-adult and poetry literature, as well as more than 60 publications of pedagogic character among books, notebooks and articles. She has been the Director of the pedagogic magazine ‘Espais Didàctics’. She has participated in radio programmes, co-funder of Trobades d’Escriptors i Escriptores de l’Horta, vocal of the Junta Directiva de la AELC and she has taught many training courses and diverse conferences about topics related to the language didactic or about literary creation, in all the Spanish State.

Revista Camacuc

Camacuc is a child magazine in Valencian published by the homonym editorial since 1984. Mostly composed by comics, it has 32 pages.

The magazine is edited with the intention of spreading and normalising Valencian offering lectures in comic format from the hand of the best illustrators from the País Valencià. The publication is present in schools, institutes, libraries and particular houses. It is financed through subscription and advertisements, and it has a bimonthly periodicity. It counts with editorial funds from books from the same editorial that can be consulted on their website. From the 2000 and during fifteen years they have published an Aranese version with the title of d’Era Garbèra, with 800 subscribers that add up to the 1.000 that already had the Valencian edition.
