Miguel Falomir, who is the director of Prado’s Museum, receives the University-Society Award from the University of Valencia

The director of the Prado’s Museum, who is Miguel Falomir, has received the University-Society Award in Alumni-Plus Old Student of University of Valencia. This event took place in the University–Business Foundation of the University of Valencia. This award recognises the professional trajectory and it highlights the professional, academic and business trajectory of some old students from the University of Valencia. In this sense, this prize is a prove of a exemplary contribution to make the society progress. The University of Valencia graduates Falomir in History of Art and he is teacher of the History of Art department of this university although he is now focus on the direction of Prado’s Museum.

These prizes went to the International Finances Chair of Santander’s Bank and to the Militaty Emergencies Unit (UME). This chair received this prize in a new category that has been opened this year called Institutional or Business Chairs of University of Valencia. The award of Collaboration’s Trajectory went to the Military Emergency Unit that nowadays has an agreement of collaboration to make students possible to do a stage and some activities and courses that improve their formation. In addition, the Unit and gthe University are working close because they are preparing a master’s degree about emergencies.

Students Awarded in Alumni Plus category
The Alumni’s Plus category also awards students from the University of Valencia because of their excellence and the input of ideas and project that related the society with the university. Three students received this year the prizes. They are: Jessica Ortega, who is graduated in Psychology, Vincent Blay, who is graduated in Chemistry Engineering and Carolina Sanz, who is Tourism’s student.

In addition, the Consell Social awards R+D actions and projects between the University of Valencia and the companies. This year, the one awarded in the category Research and Development was Aurora Seco, who is teacher of Chemistry Engineering in the University of Valencia. She has been working with Aqualia so she could made some works about the quality of the waters of the maritime coasts and their recovery and also about the European water framework directive and its compliance in the Valencian Community and so on.

The teachers were awarded too
These prizes wants to highlight the working of the teachers of the University of Valencia though the Excellence Teaching’s category. That is why this year five teacher received the award. They are Vicente Cerverón, who is professor of I.T. of the School of Engineering (ETSE); and Javier Molina, who is professor of Didactics of Musical, Plastic and Body Expression of the Faculty of Education; and Margarita Parra, professor of Chemistry Engineering of the Faculty of Chemistry; MªAntonia Noguera, professor of Pharmacology of the Faculty of Pharmacology and finally Rosario Serra, who is teacher of Constitutional Law, Political and Administration Science of the Faculty of Law.
