The Minister of Universal Health and Public Health gives a talk to the medical students of the UV on primary care

The event, held in the Aula Magna of the Medicine's Faculty, was attended by nearly 200 students,who were able to learn more about the current situacion of primary care and the prospects for the future.

The medical students of the University of Valencia participated yesterday in a colloquium with the Minister of Universal Health and Public Health, Miguel Mínguez, in which they were able to learn what policies and strategies are being carried out by the government of the Generalitat Valenciana in the field of family medicine. Actions aimed at strengthening primary care, one of the basic pillars of the health care system and onestrating its importance and the need to allocate more resources.

They also learned about the current situation of this specialty, its particularities with respect to other medical care specialties and its future prospects, as well as the strategic lines established that will mark the path of primary care in the coming years.

The event was moderated by the rector of the University of Valencia, M. Vicenta Mestre; and with the participation of the deputy director general of Integrated Care Activity; the dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Francisco Javier Chorro; the professor and head of Primary Care at the UV and medical director of the University Clinical Hospital of Valencia, Jorge Navarro; and the president of the national commission of the Specialty of Family and Community Medicine, Ana Arbaizar.

Finally, the attendees had the opportunity to discuss their doubts and concerns about primary care with the different speakers.
