The Minister of Universities visits the UV

The Minister of Universities, Joan Subirats, visited last Friday, February 4th, the Universitat de València, where he met with principals from the Valencian public universities and members of the university community. This is the first visit of these characteristics the Minister pays at a university.

The Minister of Universities, Joan Subirats, went through the faculty, the auditorium and the Duc de Calàbria room of the Universitat de València’s Historical Library, placed on the emblematic building of La Nave street, now the Universitat’s Cultural Centre.

This was the first time that, as a Minister, he visited the historic building of the Universitat, opened in 1499 along with the founding of our institution. He highlighted the importance of putting a historic building in these modernization conditions at the service of society. Therefore, the Minister went through the Duc de Calàbria room and was able to enjoy some of the incunable books the University possesses.

First encounter of the Minister with the university community

The Minister’s visit, as part of his institutional schedule in Valencia on February 3rd and 4th, meant his first meeting with members of the university community (students, teaching and research staff or PDI and administrative and service staff or PAS) since his inauguration as Minister of Universities.
