Mónica Giménez Marqués, member of the Institute of Molecular Science, has just received the VI Valencian Talent Jove Award in Science for her career as a young researcher. These awards, organised by Editorial Premsa Valenciana and Bankia, have the purpose of supporting the development of Valencian society through the recognition of young promises.

This young Valencian researcher has stood out over the last years due to the quality of her work. She has completed different post-doctoral stays, firstly in the Institut Lavoisier de Versailles and then in l’Institut des Materiaux Poreaux de Paris after receiving several scholarships, such as the VALi+d scholarship by the Valencian Government or the prestigious European post-doctoral scholarship Marie-Sklodovska Curie. Moreover, Mónica is also going to be selected to attend the 67th Lindau-Nobel meeting, where young researchers are invited so that they can share their thoughts with Nobel prize winners. She has also been a finalist in awards such as ‘Suschem’ for Young Chemical Researchers.

Mónica has recently incorporated the Institute of Molecular Science of the University of Valencia at the Parc Científic as a Juan de la Cierva researcher. Her research focuses on the study of porous hybrid advanced materials that present applications in very diverse fields such as biomedicine, energy or environment. To Giménez Marqués, this award means a boost for her career and she hopes that it will help her consolidate herself as a scientist.
