On the borders of the conventional music industry

Coordinated by journalist and cultural managerEduardo Guillot, Músiques Urbanes starts their new cycle 'Margins' to provide a diverse and multicultural stage where 'those groups within the margins of the conventional music industry can perform'.

'The "Margins" programme is made of three concerts with three proposals that are far from the centrality and feel comfortable in their periphereal spot' explains Guillot after deciding for this new experience.

  • FITZCARRALDO (17 October), the experimental duo consisting ofAndrés Blasco (Carmina Burana, Dr. Truna) andPilar Barrachina (Felpudo Tos) had their career during the 90s and disappeared without trace afterwards. 'Their concert at La Nau will be Fitzcarraldo's official comeback after over two decades with no live performance', and that's becauseAndrésandPilar'try to dodge everything' states Guillot, explaining how they compose, play and create 'in the margins'.
  • LOS PREMIOS (21 November), a quintet of prestigious musicians from València, formed by members ofPolock, Bob LazyandYo Diablo, among others. Eduardo Guillot bets on bringing visibility to new Valencian groups. 'They recently released their first LP under Osadía, and independent company'. Their group name is a reference toCortázar 's first novel, and they play 'countercultural rock', a sound combining 'psychedelic scents, unfaithful pop and afrocuban rythms'.
  • TRENA (12 December) a young female quartet born in 2023 with a fresh untroubled pop sound. They are not only a modern group but 'an only female group, which already places them in the margins of a patriarchal culture' declares Guillot, highlighting the proliferation of female groups in the last years and how they disrupted the industry by 'becoming notorious in a short time and overcoming the dominant narrative'.

For the coordinator, '"Margins" is a way to give visibility to interesting proposals in the city, and voice to a worthy music that doesn't usually make its way in the conventional industry'. Using live music at La NauCapella de la Sapiència in the most dignified and beautiful way for good music to be born and grow.

All three concerts will take plat at thehistorical building of Universitat de ValènciaCapella de la Sapiència, at7:00 p.m.Tickets cost3 euros: all profit will be destined toUniversitat de València Post-DANA Restoration and Suport Programmes.
